In Buddhism, meditation practice generally falls under two basic types – calm-abiding meditation (shamatha) and special-insight meditation (vipashyana). On Thursday nights, a long-time student of Khenchen Rinpoché, Dr. Sam, gives detailed instructions (as needed), but more importantly, provides an opportunity for the practice of calm-abiding meditation.
