Amitayus (Tib. Tsepakme) is the sambhogakaya (apparitional body) aspect of Amitabha. His name means “Infinite Life” and his practice is often done to increase lifespan and to prevent against accidental death. In this thangka, Amitayus is accompanied by Ushnishavijaya (Tib. Namgyalma) and White Tara. Together, they are the “Three Deities of Longevity” (Tib. Tselha Namsum).
